![]() Even with the eye-roll inducing humor, it’s totally worth the money to see this show. All the performances were professional and top notch and many quite provocative-the male pole dancer did things with his body I would never have thought possible. ![]() ![]() We enjoyed being up close to the performances, they all had us gasping and hooting in delight. Maybe my sense of humor is limited when it comes to certain things, but likening a yeast infection to cheese is just…well…ick. There are times when the hosts need to put out a 3 minute bit while the stage is reset and there’s no excuse for not having those be funnier set pieces. Unfortunately I thought some of the monologues were a bit more a wasted opportunity than clever. But we also thought his Muppet riff on the feathers a woman was wearing was pretty hilarious. This can’t be easy, and he went a little overboard when he fat-shamed this one guy in the back. Some of the ad lib humor calling out aspects of the audience members was clever and involved on the spot humor by the host. Where Cirque shows do this via musical interludes and theatrical drama, Absinthe uses low-brow crude humor. Each show features individual circus acts/dance or singing performances strung together with a little filler in between. We enjoyed going to Absinthe after seeing O the night before-sorta a balancing thing if you will.
